SUMMARY
A commercial leisure landscape scheme transforming the main external route through Beverley Park into a premium, pedestrian-first boulevard. Redbay’s design balanced operational vehicle access with guest experience, using flowing geometry, bespoke seating, architectural planting and materials inspired by Torbay’s red geology.

Redbay was commissioned to reimagine the main external linear space connecting Beverley Park’s central leisure facilities with the wider holiday park grounds. The aim was to replace a dated layout with a high-quality, multifunctional public realm that felt visually impressive, practical and fully integrated with the poolside facilities, sales office and interior venues.
Redbay provided landscape design and contract administration for the scheme, working closely with Gutxi interior design consultancy. The work included shaping the external layout, hard landscape materials, planting strategy, seating areas, bespoke furniture, pedestrian experience and the operational requirements needed for vehicle movement through the park.
The main challenge was to create a fully functional vehicle thoroughfare that did not feel like a road. The route needed to support holiday park operations and caravan relocation, while still feeling safe, relaxed and pedestrian-first for guests. Standard asphalt and road markings would have undermined the premium leisure atmosphere, so the design needed to hide operational function within a more refined landscape setting.
The completed scheme transformed a dated transitional route into a cohesive, luxurious and highly functional landscape space. Through sinuous geometry, curved seating alcoves, bespoke furniture, architectural planting and a carefully selected material palette, Redbay helped turn a necessary access route into a central part of the guest experience.
The use of Marshalls Lunar block paving, including Rosa pink tones inspired by Torbay’s red geology, helped root the design in its local setting. Corten steel planters, Millboard cladding, illuminated cube seating, movable picnic tables, stainless-wire balustrades, palms, grasses, flowering plants, native hedgebanks and specimen shrubs all contributed to a richer, more layered environment.
The project successfully dissolved the line between infrastructure and landscape. What still functions as an operational route now reads as a premium boulevard and poolside public realm, supporting Beverley Park’s position as a top-tier Devon leisure destination.
