CONSULTATIONS
& SITE SURVEYS
A strong garden or estate design starts with a clear understanding of the site. Redbay carries out detailed site analysis to assess levels, boundaries, access, views, constraints, existing vegetation and environmental context.

This early stage helps establish what is possible, what needs careful consideration and how the landscape can be improved or reimagined. For larger estates, historic settings or rural sites, this can also include reviewing wider landscape character, planning sensitivities and long-term management needs.
CONCEPT SKETCHES
& MASTERPLANS
Redbay develops concept sketches and masterplans to set the direction for the garden or estate. These plans help clients visualise how spaces could connect, how different areas could be used and how the landscape can evolve as a coherent whole.

Masterplanning is especially useful for larger properties, country estates and phased projects. It allows the wider landscape to be considered strategically, from arrival routes, terraces and lawns through to woodland, water, kitchen gardens, planting areas and long-term estate use.
PLANNING
ADVICE & APPLICATIONS
Planting is a central part of Redbay’s landscape design work. Planting schemes are developed to suit the site, the climate, the setting and the long term purpose of the project.

Redbay considers seasonal interest, structure, biodiversity, maintenance, resilience and visual character when selecting plant species. This can include ornamental planting, native planting, coastal mixes, meadow areas, wetland planting, tree planting and species chosen for specialist settings such as schools, healthcare environments or exposed public spaces.
LAYOUT PLANS
& DETAILED
SPECIFICATIONS
Once the design direction is agreed, Redbay can prepare detailed layout plans and specifications to guide the delivery of the scheme. This can include hard landscape materials, terraces, paths, walls, steps, boundaries, water features, structures and garden detailing.

Clear specification helps protect the quality of the design as it moves into construction. It also gives contractors the information they need to price, plan and build the work accurately, reducing uncertainty and helping the finished garden reflect the original vision.
PLANTING PLANS
& SCHEDULES
Planting is central to the character, atmosphere and long-term success of a garden or estate. Redbay prepares planting plans and schedules that respond to the site’s conditions, the client’s preferences and the desired seasonal effect.

Planting can be designed for structure, colour, biodiversity, privacy, movement, formality or a more naturalistic character. For country estates, planting may also need to connect ornamental garden spaces with parkland, woodland, meadow, wetland or wider rural landscape.
CONTRACTOR PROCUREMENT
& PROJECT SUPERVISION
Redbay can support clients through the tender and construction process, helping source suitable contractors and review how the design is delivered on site.

Project supervision and contract administration help maintain quality, resolve practical issues and ensure the finished landscape is delivered in line with the agreed design. This is especially useful for complex gardens, high-value private projects and phased estate work where detail and consistency matter.
MAINTENANCE
& ESTATE MANAGEMENT
Long-term management is essential if a garden or estate is to mature as intended. Redbay can prepare maintenance and estate management plans that set out how the landscape should be cared for over time.

These plans can include seasonal maintenance, planting care, meadow management, woodland management, water features, access routes and wider estate priorities. The aim is to protect the design intent while allowing the landscape to establish, mature and continue improving year after year.
